African American culture was reborn in the Harlem Renaissance. No aspect of the Harlem Renaissance shaped America and the entire world as much as jazz. Harlem's Cotton Club boasted the talents of singers. Musicians such as Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and Louis Armstrong drew huge audiences. White Americans as well as African Americans caught jazz fever. The Harlem Renaissance is generally considered to have spanned from about 1919 until the early or mid-1930s. Many of its ideas lived on much longer. How did the music duringthe harlem renaissance help mix races? How did the music shape everyday life during the renaissance? And did everyone agree with the music?
